2. What we sell
TheScoopaholic sells Mystery Scoop boxes: hand-packed parcels containing a selection of retail goods such as self-care items, beauty products, accessories, stationery and small gifts.
The contents are a surprise and are not specified in advance. Stock changes regularly. By placing an order you accept that you are buying a box of unspecified items to the stated value tier, and not any particular product. The photographs on this site illustrate the style of the packaging and the kind of items included; they are not a list of what your box will contain.
3. Prices
All prices are shown on this website in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is charged separately and is shown on the shop page. The total amount payable, including delivery, is confirmed to you in writing before you pay.
4. How an order is placed
- You choose a scoop and send your order by WhatsApp or email, with your name, delivery choice and delivery address.
- We confirm your order, the total amount due including delivery, and send you the payment details. Nothing is binding until this confirmation.
- You pay by electronic funds transfer and send us proof of payment.
- We confirm receipt of payment. The agreement is concluded at that point.
You may review your order, correct any mistakes and withdraw from it at any point before payment, as required by section 43(2) of ECTA. Simply tell us on WhatsApp.
5. Payment
Payment is by electronic funds transfer to the bank account we give you when confirming your order. We do not collect or store card details on this website. Banking details are sent directly to you on WhatsApp or by email and are never published on this site.
Our banking details will only ever come from the WhatsApp number and email address listed in section 1 above. If you receive banking details from any other number, account name or address claiming to be TheScoopaholic, do not pay. Contact us on the number above to check first.
6. Delivery
Parcels are dispatched —. Delivery options and costs are listed on the shop page. Once dispatched, delivery times are in the hands of the courier — for PUDO you receive a tracking number so you can follow your parcel.
In terms of section 46 of ECTA, we must execute your order within 30 days of receiving it unless we have agreed otherwise with you. If we do not, you may cancel the agreement on seven days' written notice. If the goods you ordered are unavailable, we will tell you and refund you in full within 30 days of that notice.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please give us an address where the parcel can be received safely.
7. Your right to cancel — the 7-day cooling-off period
Section 44 of ECTA gives you the right to cancel this transaction without reason and without penalty within 7 days after receiving the goods. This right applies because you bought online without inspecting the goods in person.
If you cancel within that period:
- Return the goods to us unused and in their original condition and packaging.
- You pay the direct cost of returning them, as ECTA allows.
- We refund the purchase price within 30 days of the cancellation.
To cancel, message us on the WhatsApp number in section 1 within 7 days of receiving your parcel and we will give you the return address.
8. Faulty, damaged or missing items
Separately from the cooling-off right above, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 entitles you to goods that are of good quality, in working order and free of defects. If something in your scoop arrives broken, damaged or is missing:
- Tell us within 7 days of delivery, with a photograph of the item and the packaging.
- We will replace the item, or refund its value, whichever suits you better.
9. If something goes wrong
Please contact us first on the WhatsApp number or email address in section 1 — most things are sorted out quickly that way.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you may refer the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, which handles complaints against retailers in South Africa free of charge, at cgso.org.za. You may also approach the National Consumer Commission. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or ECTA.
10. Privacy
We collect your name, contact number, email address and delivery address in order to fulfil your order. How we handle that information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
11. General
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. We may update them from time to time; the version published on this page at the time you place your order is the one that applies to that order. The “last updated” date at the top tells you when they last changed.
Nothing in these terms is intended to limit or exclude any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
